Aston Martin has unveiled its new DBS Volante convertible

Aston Martin will premiere the DBS Volante at the Geneva Auto Salon on the 3rd March 2009. It is the marques 16th convertible in 95 years.

Power is provided by Aston Martin’s hand-built all alloy 6.0-litre V12 engine, reportedly producing 510 bhp, and 570Nm of torque with a top speed of 307kmh and 0-100kmh time of 4.3 seconds.

In standard specification, the DBS has a rear-mounted six-speed manual gearbox, while an automatic six-speed ‘Touchtronic’ option is also available. As with the coupe, the Volante is offered with carbon ceramic brakes and the bonnet, front wings and boot lid are made from carbon fibre, all helping to reduce weight. The lightweight retractable roof is the main differnce over the coupe, retracting in just 14 seconds.

The DBS Volante will be built at Aston Martin’s global headquarters at Gaydon, Warwickshire, with customer deliveries expected to commence later this year.
