McIntyre dominates NZ V8s races

News round-up

BP Ultimate Ford Falcon driver and current champion, John McIntyre, was uncatchable in the NZ V8s races at Hamilton this weekend.

McIntyre won all three rounds, the third – run this afternoon – from Paul Radisich (HPM Falcon) and Fujitsu Falcon driver Kayne Scott.

The three drivers also finished in that order for the weekend.

It was a weekend for clean-sweeps, with Earl Bamber winning both Toyota Racing Series events.

The Wanganui teenager was in scintillating form in today’s race, establishing a four-second lead in the opening laps, only to see it eroded by Safety Car periods.

After the first he came under strong pressure from Andy Knight but held him at bay.

He eventually took the win from Nic Jordan, Australian Nathan Antunes, and Knight.

Bamber won the weekend overall, form Jordan and Knight.

In the Porsche GT3 races, Craig Baird took three wins, and won the weekend overall, from Jody Vincent and Ant Pedersen.

There were different winners in the two Mini Challenge races, though.

Courtney Letica won Saturday’s race, and Brent Collins won this morning.
