Jim Beam team confident for Hamilton

Dick Johnson Racing is on a roll in the 2008 V8 Supercar series and looks to continue that in Hamilton.

The resurgent Dick Johnson racing/Jim Beam Ford falcon team heads to this weekend’s Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar race with heightened expectations after strong showing at the Adelaide and Melbourne street circuits, and Will Davison’s win in Round 2 at Eastern Creek.

"Obviously, with a round win comes the increased expectations from the outside, but internally we expected to be running top five this year consistently so that hasn't changed at all," says Davison.

"(We’ve) come on in leaps and bounds this year and we’re improving all the time.

“Personally I love street tracks so I can't wait to compete at a brand new event in Hamilton."

Teammate Steve Johnson says the team has had “some very impressive results this year.
“Both cars have showed great speed and we expect some of the same results in Hamilton.

"It's going to be very interesting to see how teams go about taking on a new street circuit. No-one has raced at Hamilton before so we’re venturing into a bit of the unknown but I can't wait to hit the track."

DJR/Jim Beam sporting director, Adrian Burgess, says the drivers will walk the track with their engineers in Hamilton “to get a feel for what we think will be the best se- up.

“It's going to be challenging for all teams first up this weekend.

"We have a big job ahead of us to work as a team and ensure we come up with the right formula to get another good result this weekend.

"We had great speed from both drivers at the street circuit in the opening round at the Clipsal 500 so we’re confident both Steve and Will can get a result in Hamilton."
