Holden set to announce major changes to Commodore

Holden has called a press conference for 1pm NZ time to announce powertrain changes for Commodore range

At the press conference at its Port Melbourne engine assembly plant, Holden is expected to announce a raft of major changes and additions to the entire VE Commodore range.

There is speculation Holden will officially confirm a new range of fuel-efficient direct-injected V6 engines for the Commodore sedan, Sportwagon and ute, as well as the Caprice and Statesman. The new engine is widely tipped to be three litres in capacity.

It is also likely to fit a six-speed automatic transmission to reduce fuel consumption by more than 10 per cent.

Styling, aerodynamics and trim packages are also expected to be in for a major overhaul.

Come back later this afternoon for an update on the new changes.
