Sprint Gas Racing launches '09 livery

Sprint Gas Racing today unveiled its new look Holden Commodores

Sprint Gas Racing has gone red.

SGR's Jeff Grech says the colour stands out well on and off the track, and the team has achieved its goal of designing a livery that is clean and stylish.

Sprint Gas Racing not only starts the year with a new livery, but also with a re-designed B-double transporter and merchandise range.

“I love the look of the team and the cars, we look sensational,” Jason Bargwanna said. “It’ll be a great feeling walking through the gates at Clipsal on the first morning of the event looking like we do. Once the cars hit the track I’m sure we’ll make an impact."

Sprint Gas Racing driver Greg Murphy is also looking forward to the new season.

“We’ve made a big step forward in presentation; today we look like a professional team,” Greg Murphy said.

“It’s been a long off season, but we’ve all been working very hard to be prepared for the test days in mid-March and the first event at Clipsal.

“I’m feeling refreshed and ready and I believe the cars will be more competitive this year compared to last year, thanks to some good development. All that’s left to do is turn them on and go racing."

Grech says Sprint Gas Racing has worked hard during the off-season to continue development on the two new cars – which were introduced several rounds into the 2008 season.

“We’ve got strong commercial support by Sprint Gas, Fuchs and our other sponsors, and we’ve made big in-roads in car development.

“Over the summer we managed to attract some quality people to the team, including Mike Henry, an engineer with a lot of V8 Supercar experience and success.

“Development is coming along well; I expect our cars to be more competitive and consistent throughout the season.

“2008 was always a development year but we expect to be more competitive this year. Consistency is our focus. We’d like to be around the top 10 in qualifying and races."

Grech says last year the team was a standout at Bathurst, but want to go one better this year and pin point a few other races where they could realistically make the podium.

Sprint Gas Racing has a two day test booked at Winton on March 9 and 10.

The first round of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship is in Adelaide on March 19-22.
