Solberg free to find WRC drive

Subaru works team Prodrive and former champ Petter Solberg agree on the Norwegian's future.

Former world champion, Petter Solberg, says he’s a free agent to seek a drive in the 2009 World Rally Championship (WRC).

He says he and Subaru have agreed that he’s free to “enter any brand of the car he elects for participation in the WRC in 2009 and beyond.”

Solberg, left without a drive after Subaru announced its withdrawal from WRC rallying, says he’s actively chasing a drive but is unlikely to be in the field for the 2009 series-opening round in Ireland.
