Reynolds dominates Timaru GT3 races

Australian David Reynolds dominated last weekend’s Battery Town Porsche GT3 races at Timaru and has sliced 29 points off reigning champion Craig Baird’s series lead

Pole-winner Reynolds outgunned an uncharacteristically slow-starting Baird to drive to a lights-to-flag win in Saturday’s race and followed that with two wins on Sunday.

In race two on Sunday morning, he passed Baird with a daring last lap move after a race-long battle. "That race was the best I've ever been in over here,” Reynolds said. “And not just because I won it either. Even if I had finished second it would still have been the best. Winning just made it that little bit better."

He started the final race, in which the top six grid positions are reversed, from sixth. He was third by the end of lap one and in the lead by lap eight.

"It's unbelievable really but, you know, sometimes it just happens like this,” Reynolds said. “The car's been fantastic and I've just felt in tune with it all weekend."

Sharing the round podium with Reynolds were Baird and last season's Battery Town runner-up and Rookie of the Year, Daniel Gaunt.
