Ryan O'Connor wins TQ title

Auckland teenager Ryan O’Connor has clinched the New Zealand Three-quarter Midget Car title in his rookie season. The 16-year-old, a graduate this season from the Kiwi Kidz Quarter Midget category at Western Springs, drove his Harris-Suzuki GSXR chain drive car to victory at Greymouth’s Greenstone Park Raceway on Sunday evening, February 4.

O’Connor was number two qualifier following the two preliminary races and led home pole position starter and 2005 champion Scott Joblin (Eltham) in the 20-lap final.

Napier’s Craig Todd repeated the third placing he gained last season and the top six finishers were Aucklander Chris Gwilliams, Eltham’s Adam Joblin and Tauranga racer Ross Linklater.
