Four-way fight in Formula Ford

The 2008/2009 MTA New Zealand Formula Ford Championship is firming up as a four-way struggle heading into the final two rounds

With six races to go, series leader Richie Stanaway, Stefan Webling, Mitchell Evans and Jamie McNee, are all in with a chance.

Stanaway (pictured) was the early season favourite, but he and second-on-points Webling had a tough weekend in the last round at Teretonga, Invercargill.

At the Southland track, Evans and McNee closed to well within striking range.

There are 300 points on offer in the final two meetings – at Manfeild this weekend and Pukekohe in two weeks’ time – and none of the leading contenders or several others who still have mathematical chance of taking the crown, can afford a mistake.

Series points standings: Richie Stanaway (Tauranga)  907; Stefan Webling (Oakura)  830; Mitchell Evans (Auckland)  826; Jamie McNee (Wellington)  764; Martin Short (Hamilton)  675; Damon Leitch (Invercargill)  655; Simon Evans (Auckland);  645; Matthew Penrose (Rangiora)  642; Chris Cox (Rangiora)  552; Brett Sullivan (Nelson)  431.
