Thinking small grows Suzuki sales

The swing to smaller cars which saw Corolla almost pass Commodore as the 2006 top seller also helped Suzuki to record sales and a lift in market share.

Sales grew 21.4 per cent to 3189 and new-vehicle market share rose to 3.19 per cent from 2.54 per cent. Suzuki said that in addition to the Swift supermini, sales of the Grand Vitara and Jimny 4WDs were also particularly strong, the latter boosted late in the year by the new “bare bones” JX model.

Swift sales totalled 2060, putting it ahead of the Honda Jazz (1916) and Toyota Yaris (1795).
