Classic Aussie sports sedans for auction

Chrysler built only 20 of these Magenta E37-optioned Valiant Charger R/T coupes in 1971 and Shannons is auctioning this one in Sydney next Monday, February 9

The Glenn Innes, NSW, Chrysler dealer originally used the three-speed manual Charger as a demonstrator.

It was repainted during the 1980s and spent most of the 1990s in storage. The car’s fourth owner since 2000 rebuilt the straight-six engine with its triple Weber 45DCOE carburettors to E38 Bathurst specification.

Shannons is also auctioning this one-owner 1972 Holden Torana XU-1.

It’s described as being in “very original and unrestored” condition. Holden called the paintwork colour March the 17th green.

The car, which is fitted with a rollcage, competed briefly in hillclimbs in the 1970s.

It has all-matching-numbers and has been stored on blocks for several years, being driven occasionally to keep everything working.

Shannons expects both cars to sell in the $Au45,000-$55,000 price range.
