Volkswagen is adding a third string to its Passat middleweight range, the Passat CC.
But don’t be fooled into thinking this is a retractable hardtop version of the Passat.
This is not a Coupe Cabriolet, but a Comfort Coupe.
The Passat CC has a completely independent body design from the sedan and Variant (wagon), an interior that has sporty individual bucket seats in the rear as well as front cabin, and luxury equipment.
VW calls the Passat CC a vehicles that is “an elegant sedan and a dynamic coupe simultaneously.”
The coupe philosophy is reflected in the interior with its four seat layout. In both the front and rear, ergonomically designed sport seats are fitted.
The engine is a 3.6-litre six cylinder delivering 220kW at 6600rpm.
It develops maximum torque of 350Nm from 2400rpm and accelerates the four-door coupe to 100kph in 5.6 seconds.
The Passat CC V6 has the latest generation of 4Motion full-time all-wheel drive and has an automated DSG dual clutch transmission.
The car’s new Dynamic Chassis Control system combines the sportiness of a coupe with the comfort of a top luxury sedan.
The system tunes the suspension damping and controls the power steering.
The DCC offers three programs: Normal, Sport and Comfort, selected by a pushbutton to the right of the gear lever.
The suspension system constantly adapts to the road and driving conditions and continually improves comfort and dynamic properties.
VW has built more than 15 million Passats and Passat Variant wagons.
