Corvette is set to release the Grand Sport later this year in coupe and convertible models.

The Grand Sport replaces the previous Z51 package, combining the Corvette LS3-based powertrain with wide-bosy styling.

Corvette says the new model has greater handling performance, with wider wheels and tyres, revised shocks, new stabilizer bar and spring specifications and new gearing, which allow for a 0.2-second improvement in 0-100kph acceleration versus the standard LS3-powered models.

The engine is a 6.2-litre cast aluminium V8 delivering 430hp (321kW) and 424lb-ft (575Nm) of torque, and an optional two-mode exhaust system boosts output to 436hp (325kW) and 428lb-ft (580Nm).

Customers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are also four different trim levels to pick from.

Different sized tyres of 275/35ZR18 at the front and 325/30ZR19 at the rear wrap around 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels respectively. Electronic traction control and ABS come standard.
