Highlights of the refreshed 2012 models include an increase in power, a new eight-speed ZF gearbox and lower CO² emissions for the SDV6 engine.
The 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel offered in both cars has had a 10hp boost to take power to 252hp. Combined with the eight-speed gearbox, CO² emissions in the Discovery 4 are down by 14g/km to 230g/km, and from 243g/km to 230g/km in the Range Rover Sport. Combined economy in the Discovery 4 is boosted from 30.4mpg to 32.1mpg, and from 30.7mpg to 32.1mpg in the Range Rover Sport.
The ZF gearbox, also found in Jaguar and BMW models, comes with a ‘Drive Select’ rotary gearshift and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Land Rover claims shift times of just 200 milliseconds in both cars.
Exterior changes to the Range Rover Sport include a new automatic one-piece tailgate, a seven-inch Dual View option for the front navigation system and Gloss Black detailing for the headlight inners and front grille surrounds.
The two models have also undergone a series of subtle exterior cosmetic changes and an increase in both standard and optional interior equipment.
The only additional changes to the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 model Range Rover Sport are new 20-inch alloys and a ‘Light Atlas’ finish for the front grille. This model’s power outputs and economy and CO2 figures remain unchanged.
