Mazda’s seven-seater CX-9 crossover is now on sale in New Zealand, powered by a 3.7L V6 engine.

The first CX-9 was launched in 2006, and since then has won over 20 global motoring awards and posted worldwide sales of more than 70,000 units.

Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director of Mazda New Zealand says the CX-9 has been in high demand from Kiwi motorists for some time.

“We’ve had steady enquiry for the CX-9 over the past few years and we’re pleased to be able to meet that demand as we enter the large SUV category in New Zealand,” says Clearwater.

The latest CX-9’s styling features Mazda’s signature family face – the bold five point grille with chrome surround. Other external features include 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/50R20 tyres (the largest ever for a Mazda), auto on/off halogen headlights and front fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, power slide/tilt sunroof; rear spoiler and chrome finishing on the door handles.

Drivers will be able to select from six colours including Stormy Blue Mica, Copper Red Mica, Sparkling Black Mica, Crystal White Pearl, Aluminium Metallic and the new Dolphin Grey. Front and rear bumpers are matched to the body colour, as are the door mirrors which feature side indicators, heater and reverse tilt-down functions when reversing.

The CX-9 provides a generous cabin space of 1911 litres, ample leg room and seven full sized seats. Its wheel base is 2875mm and it measures 5099mm long and 1936mm wide with a height of 1728mm. The CX-9 has a ground clearance of 147mm and a kerb weight of 2080kg, and towing capacity of 2000kg braked and 750kg unbraked.

Inside you’ll find black leather seat trim and leather-trimmed gear shift and steering wheel. The driver’s seat features an eight-way power-adjustable, three position memory, while the front passenger seat has a four-way power adjustable memory. Both front seats feature a heating function.

Elsewhere is a double-opening centre console and dashboard with three-zone climate control air conditioning with independent rear cabin control, Bluetooth functionality, blackout instrument lighting, cruise control and a trip computer to provide essential information on current and average fuel consumption, distance to empty and average speed. Other signature Mazda details include tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment, illuminated vanity mirrors, rain-sensing front wipers and power windows with driver and front passenger one-touch operation.

The CX-9 Limited is available now from Mazda dealerships nationwide for only $59,990 plus on road costs. See your nearest Mazda dealer.
