The new BMW X1 is entering the New Zealand market with a choice of two four-cylinder diesels.
The BMW X1 xDrive23d comes with a 150 kW/204 hp diesel featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo and common-rail fuel injection. The diesel engine in the BMW X1 xDrive20d delivers
130 kW/177 hp, and also comes with common-rail fuel injection as well as a turbocharger with variable intake geometry.
BMW says the X1 xDrive23d will accelerate to 100kmh in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 205kmh. Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 6.3 litres/ 100 kilometres and a CO2 emission rating of 167 grams per kilometre.
The all aluminium diesel engine in the BMW X1 xDrive20d accelerates to 100kmh in 8.4 seconds. Top speed is 205kmh. Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 5.8 litres/100 kilometres. The CO2 ratings is 153 grams per kilometre.
Two petrol engine variants, the BMW X1 18i and BMW X1 25i, will be launched later this year.
The BMW X1 xDrive23d comes as standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. This automatic power transmission is also available as an option on the BMW X1 xDrive20d instead of the six-speed manual gearbox featured as standard.
Measuring 4.45 metres in length, this five-door sits below the BMW X6, the BMW X5, and the BMW X3. The long wheelbase of 2.76 metres and the low-slung rear window create sleek proportions testifying to the sportiness of the BMW X1.
EfficientDynamics technologies apply on each model, such as Brake Energy Regeneration, optimised aerodynamics, lightweight engineering, the final drive with optimised warm-up. Manual models come with Start Stop Function and a gearshift point indicator.
All variants of the BMW X1 adhere to the EU5 emission standard.
All-wheel drive is naturally connected to DSC Dynamic Stability Control, comprising of ABS anti-lock brake function, Dynamic Brake Control and CBC Cornering Brake Control, and DTC Dynamic Traction Control.
All versions of the BMW X1 come as standard on 17-inch wheels in either steel or aluminium. Other standard features are the Tyre Defect Indicator and runflat tyres, daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights, high-beam assistant and rain sensor.
With frontal, side and curtain airbags, the BMW X1 has achieved 5 stars in the current Euro NCAP crash test.
Optional extras include roof railing, towing unit, sports seats, seat heating, automatic air conditioning, a lights package and the large Panorama glass roof.
