SUPERB!. Some Mercedes Benz enthusiasts claim that the W124 series E-class was the last of the traditional Mercedes Benz, created at a time when the Mercedes engineers built the car, and the companys accountants had to figure out how much to charge for it. It's hard not to agree. Over the years i've had the privelage to own a coupe', a convertible, and numerous sedans and wagons of this model - all fantastic!. Our family hack is a seven seat, 300 TE wagon, and is still providing sterling service 21 years after it was built. Anyway, i digress. This excellent example is a 1994, New Zealand new (not a used import), E280, and has been my personal transport for the past two months. This particular car is one of the full facelift models created when the range was updated in 1993. This means that the 2.8 litre, six cylinder engine lying under the bonnet is the brilliant, twin cam, 24-valve, fuel injected engine, coupled to smooth shifting automatic transmission. Other improvements over the earlier cars include freshened frontal styling and different front and rear lights (hard to pick unless you're a train spotter like me). Other features of this car include power steering, climate airconditioning, electric seats, electric mirrors, electric windows, cruise control (easiest system you'll ever use), unmarked MB-Tex interior trim, remote central locking, two airbags, anti skid brakes and factory fitted, eight slot, alloy wheels. I've saved the best until last - the car has only had ONE OWNER FROM NEW, and has a fully stamped SERVICE HISTORY by the same Mercedes Benz main agent all the way through (the last service was completed at 140,000 kilometres), with four brand new tyres just fitted. Cosmetically, there are just a few small stone chips and minor marks to point out. The car genuinely drives as new and presents beautifully in Charcoal over Slate. Just $7,990.
