Volkswagen launches new Caddy range

The new Caddy boasts more economical engines, fresh looks and a more comfortable interior

Volkswagen's latest Caddy range features new TSI and TDI engines that reportedly reduce fuel consumption by up to 24% and 26% emissions. They meet Euro 5 emission standards, and the TDI versions are fitted with a diesel particulate filter.

A five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmision are offered.

The new Caddy TSI boasts 175Nm of torque – an increase of almost 20% in torque from the old petrol model. Both the TSI and TDI models include Electro-mechanical power steering and Direct Injection/Turbocharger fuel induction systems.

The interior has received a massive upgrade, with an air conditioning system for the front cabin with semi-automatic control; a height adjustable driver’s seat; a premium radio system with CD drive and MP3 functionality; rubber floor covering in front cabin and in the rear load compartment; power windows and electrically adjustable and heated exterior side mirrors; plus a cargo partition.

Safety features have also been boosted with Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), ABS Brakes front and rear, Anti-spin regulation (ASR) and engine drag torque control (EDTC).

The 1.2 TSI 175Nm retails from $29,900, and the 1.6 TDI 250NM from $35,250.
