Video: The Volkswagen Golf R and Scirocco R are headed for New Zealand in 2010
The new Volkswagen Golf R features a direct-injected, turbo charged and intercooled 4 cylinder, 2.0-litre TSI engine. Volkswagen says it is the most powerful production it has ever made and will replace the V6 R32.
Recently unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the four wheel drive Golf R coupled with a 6 speed DSG gearbox sprints to 100kmh in 5.5 seconds, reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250kmh and produces 199kW and 350Nm of torque.
Dubbed the 'Hot Roc', the Scirocco R's power output is 195kW and 350Nm of torque. The manual model will sprint to 100kmh in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250.
The Golf R is arriving early 2010, while the Scirocco lands around April.
