New Zealanders’ love for high-performance vehicles has been proven with Audi New Zealand’s latest sales figures showing S and RS vehicles make up 24% of the purchasing mix – Audi’s highest figure from across the globe.
Audi New Zealand general manager Dean Sheed says, “We’ve always been aware of the attraction Kiwi drivers have to our S and RS performance vehicles, but to be acknowledged at the highest level for our sales share is validation of that.”
Recognising the demand in this market, Audi has ensured it has the widest possible range of high-performance vehicles available to meet customers’ needs and with Audi again taking the lead in the luxury segment, in what the Motor Industry Association says was the busiest June ever for new vehicle sales, this strategy is clearly paying off.
“Customer feedback on our range of sports models has never been better, with the fleet now covering our SUV family (RSQ3 and SQ5) through to the high-end RS6, RS7 and S8 flagships. Not only are these models our highest performing vehicles, they showcase Audi’s technology, like our Cylinder on Demand (COD) engine technology in the S6, S7 and S8 models, where the 8-cylinder engine operates imperceptibly on four cylinders when full power is unnecessary – dramatically reducing fuel consumption.
Audi’s focus remains on providing New Zealanders with a wide selection of models that meet the unique Kiwi lifestyle. The Audi S and RS ranges, with popular quattro technology, meaning ‘all conditions are perfect conditions’, are perfectly suited to the New Zealand market.
“We have a clear understanding of what our customers are looking for and have seen that performance is a key consideration, again highlighting the relevance of high-performance models in New Zealand. We are delighted that customer feedback shows our RS vehicles are delivering on this promise.
“Audi will continue bringing performance to the fore this year with some exciting new arrivals like the newly landed S3 Sedan, and the soon to arrive stylish and sporty S3 Cabriolet, as well as the highly anticipated S1 Sportback. All of which will provide customers with new performance and quattro all-wheel drive opportunities,” says Sheed.
