Video: Porsche has released the first details about the 911 Speedster ahead of the Paris Motor Show
Paying homage to the first Porsche model to bear the Speedster name - the 356 Speedster - Porsche has announced that a new Porsche 911 Speedster will make its debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, joining the new 911 Carrera GTS model.
Based on the conventional 911, this two-seat roadster is 60mm lower and 40mm wider, has more raked windscreen and the characteristic double-bubble hardcover hiding the manual soft top.
The production run of this special car will be limited to 356 units worldwide - a tribute to the original - and they'll be available in early 2011.
Porsche says the 3.8-litre flat six engine delivers 408hp (302kW), which is 23hp more than the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.
The seven-speed automatic transmission transmits power to the rear wheels with a limited-slip differential lock. The car also comes with active suspension management and ceramic composite brakes.
Inside, the cabin is outfitted with black leather upholstery, adaptive sports seats, and color-coordinated trim.
The exterior colour "Pure Blue" has been developed exclusively for the Speedster, contrasting the black headlight rings, black windscreen surround and other black decorations. It also features a special front apron, sideskirts and a distinct rear apron.
