The new 2+2 Peugeot RCZ concept coupe has been given the green light, and will be launched in 2010
Almost two years after it revealed the curvy 308 RCZ concept at the Frankfurt motor show in 2007, Peugeot has confirmed its plans to put its new coupe into production.
Unlike the original concept, the production RCZ will not use Peugeot's model number system - the first Peugeot ever not to do so, according to the company - emphasising the front-wheel drive 2+2's difference from the rest of the Peugeot range.
Mechanical details have yet to be released, but the rumours suggest the RCZ will be front-wheel-drive, with a range of turbocharged petrol (and possibly diesel) engines under the bonnet.
Peugeot is shooting for a new demographic with the RCZ, saying that the car is “aimed at enthusiasts who are particularly discerning with regards to driving enjoyment.”
You'll be able to see it in full at this year's Frankfurt show in September.
