Peugeot launches new 4007 model in NZ

The Peugeot 4007 is a new SUV for the 4WD market

The new Peugeot 4007 is the first of a number of new models heading to our shores in 2010 that Peugeot says will see the range expand to offer vehicles in a wider range of segments in the market.

“At Peugeot we are very excited by the introduction of the new Peugeot 4007 sports utility vehicle, one that perfectly suits the Kiwi market and our lifestyle,” said Simon Rose divisional manager for New Zealand Peugeot distributor Sime Darby Automobiles.

The 4007 is Peugeot’s first Sport Utility vehicle, and is the result of a co-operation between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and the PSA Peugeot group.

The 4007 features the 2.2 litre high-pressure direct injection (HDi) engine which Peugeot says develops 380Nm of usable power at a low 2000rpm. Reported fuel economy figures are in the range from 5.8 l/100km for the 6-speed manual in highway cycle, to a combined cycle of 7.3 l/100km for the 6-speed dual clutch system automatic.

The interior layout allows a 5 + 2 seating configuration with plenty of versatility - the occasional sixth and seventh seats fold away to create a flat cargo area which can be expanded by an automatic folding second row of seats.

All seats have three point seatbelts and safety is enhanced with an electronic stability programme (ESP) as standard. The Peugeot 4007 has a 4 star Euro NCAP safety rating.

“The Peugeot 4007 offers a braked towing capacity of 2000kg, so moving the boat in style is now an option. Combined with outstanding diesel fuel economy and the versatility of up to seven seats we believe this fashionable vehicle will suit many New Zealand owners,” said Rose.
