The New York Auto Show is underway, with a host of new models being revealed
Nissan has unveiled the new Roadster version of the 350Z, with a folding soft-top roof which keeps its weight down. Opening and closing is said to take just 20 seconds.
Other features include heating and cooling ventilated net seats, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio and satnav. Bi-xenon headlights with auto on/off feature are standard, and seven colors are available: Solid Red, Magnetic Black, Brilliant Silver, Platinum Graphite, Pearl White, Monterey Blue and a special premium color, Black Cherry.
It is powered by the same 3.7L VQ37VHR V6 engine as the Coupe, rated at 332hp (247kW) and 270lb-ft (366Nm) of torque. Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual with the new "SynchroRev Match" function, as well as a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
Nissan is set to start selling the car in overseas markets mid-year.
Land Rover has come out with the LR4 (Discovery). The 2010 model Discovery has a new exterior design with a smoother front end and revised LED headlights, plus new chin spoiler and front wheel deflectors .
A new 5.0L V8 engine powers the LR4, with 375hp (280kW) - Land Rover claiming 25% more power and almost 20% more torque than the outgoing 4.4L unit. The 2010 LR4 also meets the new Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle standards in the US.
The V8 is mated to a revised ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Discovery has revised suspension components and steering system, larger brakes and a redesigned interior, including a portable audio interface, HD Radio, and a new five-camera 'surround' system.
The Range Rover Sport unveiled in New York has a new bumper, and re-sculptured bodylines, inside you'll see the most dramatic changes, with new switchgear, a new centre console, new gauges, and more.
The engine is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 churning out 510hp and 625Nm of torque.
Range Rover says it also has improved emissions and fuel economy, thanks to a more efficient supercharger and upgraded transmission.
The Toyota iQ is badged as a Scion iQ and is winging its way to America later this year, up against the Smart ForTwo.
It’s based on the 1.33-litre version of the iQ, with only 99hp under its bonnet.
The bodykit is the real eyecatcher tho, especially with those18-inch wheels.
Meanwhile, Mercedes has slightly refreshed the S-class, with new headlamps and tail-lights, and an upgraded interior.
Six engines are available, five petrols and one diesel, and Mercedes say all offer improved fuel consumption and lower emissions.
Technological advances include a system that automatically dips and brightens the full beam of the headlights, lane assist, automatic cross-wind stabilisation, a drowsiness detection system and a night view system.
Inside there’s a new steering wheel and new trim choices, as well as new door trims and a new seat design.The new S-class goes on sale in the UK this this year.
The Mercedes S400 Hybrid was also unveiled at today's New York motor show, but will not go on sale in the UK.
