Video: Toyota unveiled a new FT-86 Sports Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon on the weekend
The new car is an evolution of the Toyobaru - the sports coupe that Toyota and Subaru are collaborating on.
This latest model has a sharper far end, new wheels, matt black bonnet, larger front air intake, new side sills and deeper body vents.
Out back, Toyota has added a dramatic spoiler and twin exhausts.
Under the bonnet the Subaru-derived 2.0-litre Boxer engine gets a turbo.
The FT-86 is now longer, wider and 30mm lower.
The new concept car also has a GPS-track day unit co-developed with the creators of the Gran Turismo computer game franchise.
The GPS unit allows users to drive the real FT-86 around a real track and then remove the memory card from the car, plug it into a PS3 and either watch the lap virtually or race against yourself, as the real car appears as the car that you battle against.
The FT-86 is reportedly still set for a 2011 launch in Japan.
