Nissan has added a range-topping sporty RX model to its Micra small car range in New Zealand.
The RX runs a 1.4-litre motor and four-speed automatic transmission. It is set apart from other Micras with its 15-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler and side skirts, and the cabin has six airbags. It will sell for $22,495.
“While the small car market is very competitive, we’ve found people are prepared to pay a bit more for a car that looks good and has additional features as well as having low operating costs,” says Nissan NZ managing director, John Manley.
“(We believe) the $2000 premium over the Micra ST model is a reasonable price
to pay for four more airbags, alloy wheels, the spoiler and skirts.”
The Micra range starts with the 1.2-litre model with a five-speed manual gearbox at $17,995. The mid-range 1.4-litre ST comes with the automatic transmission and costs $20,495.
All Micras have air-conditioning, remote-control central door-locking, power windows and mirrors, two airbags, tilt adjustable steering wheel, ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution.
The 1.4-litre ST with its four speed automatic adds velour upholstery, intelligent key operation, automatic headlights on, a four speaker CD system and 60:40 split folding rear seats.
