Legend of car industry passes away

 

The former boss of TVR, Peter Wheeler died following a short battle with illness, aged 64

Peter Wheeler was chairman of the British cports car company from 1980 until 2004, making its powerful but lightweight cars such as the Chimaera, Tuscan and Sagaris, famous.

After selling TVR to Russian businessman Nikolai Smolensky in 2004, Wheeler continued to dabble in the world of car. He was a passionate racer, too, competing in a classic Aston Martin DB4 until recently.

Wheeler worked closely with Top Gear for many years, the first issue of the magazine featured a TVR Griffith 500 on the cover.
