Hybrid power for Italian supercar

He’s the man who designed such luscious cars as the Maserati Bora and Ghibli, and now Italian superstar designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro, is out to show that petrol/electric hybrids can have a supercar future

He’ll unveil his notion of such a car at next week’s Geneva motor show in Switzerland.

This teaser image shows a slinky coupe tipped to deliver a 298km/h top speed from its 200kW hybrid powertrain which includes a  3.3-litre petrol V6.

Twin electric motors drive the front wheels of the all-wheel drive car which should accelerate to 100km/h in a little over four seconds.

Until the Geneva show starts on March 3, that’s about all the detail that’s available.
