Mount Maunganui’s David Holder heads to the second round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship, this weekend’s Rally Whangarei, thankful to be making the start after several people made his entry possible.
Holder took a hard fought third place at the opening round of the championship at Rally Otago, but left the Dunedin event knowing he needed further support to get the Stadium Finance Mitsubishi Evo 8 to the start of the next event.
Joining the family of sponsors for Whangarei will be VINZ (Vehicle Inspections New Zealand) while Holder also acknowledges fellow competitor Andy Martin of NZ Forest Leasing amongst others who have made the event possible.
“A huge thanks to VINZ and Andy Martin, their contribution along with all of our current partners and a heap of other people that have made this event possible for us,” says Holder.
The event itself is one that has not been to kind to Holder in the past, so the 27 year old will concentrate on driving his own event, but would dearly love to end up on the podium.
“At Otago, we got caught up in the battle. I certainly drive better when I just concentrate on my own performance, so that’s the plan and we’ll just leave nothing out there. If we can get another podium that would just be fantastic.”
There is certainly plenty of positivity amongst Holder, co-driver Jason Farmer and the whole team after mentor Hayden Paddon secured his first ever World Rally Championship event win over the weekend.
“A huge congratulations to Hayden, he had us all on the edge of our seats. What he has achieved is amazing and I continue to pinch myself at the fact he is prepared to share all his knowledge with us.”
Holder Brothers Racing would like to thank the sponsors that make their campaign possible: Stadium Finance, Farmline Machinery, Force Automotive, Reaction Racing, Endless Brakes, Monit Rally Computers, Amplified Customs - Signwriting, Attentive Design, Paramount Performance, Tauranga Beaurepaires, Dunlop, Motul Oil NZ, Sew Hot Monograms, Mount Wheel Alignment, Team Ralliart NZ, VINZ, NZ Forest Leasing and Hayden Paddon.
