The seven finalists for the European Car of the Year have been announced
The initial list of contenders has been whittled down to just seven this week.
Competing for the prestigious award are the Citroën C3 Picasso, Mercedes-Benz E-class, Vauxhall Astra, Peugeot 3008, Skoda Yeti, Toyota iQ and Volkswagen Polo.
Chosen by 58 automotive journalists from 22 countries in Europe, the competition will come to a close at the end of the year when the winner is announced on 30 November.
The Opel/Vauxhall Insignia was named Car of the Year 2009 with 321 points against 320 for the Ford Fiesta. The Volkswagen Golf took third place with 223 points.
