The Lotus Evora has won Autocar’s annual Britain’s Best Driver’s Car comparison for 2009
The competition included rigorous road and track assessment, using the roads around the South Downs and the high speed corners at the Goodwood race circuit in Sussex.
Other cars tested included performance cars launched inthe past year from Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Jaguar and last year's winner, the Nissan GT-R.
Nine out of ten Autocar judges placed the Evora first when voting for their favourite from this year’s assembled cars.
Chas Hallet, Autocar Editor said about the Evora: “The best here. Brilliant on the track. Nimble, delicate and forgiving. Even better on the road.”
Editor-in-Chief Steve Cropley called the Lotus a “totally brilliant Handling Day car; stable, adjustable, quick, forgiving, flattering.”
Second place went to another British car, Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage, with the new Porsche 911 GT3 in third and the Nissan GT-R in fourth overall.
