Kiwi Scott Dixon has taken his fourth pole starting position of the IndyCar season
Indianapolis 500 winner, Scott Dixon, has put his Target Team Ganassi Dallara-Honda on pole for the Bombardier Learjet race at the ultra-fast, 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway in Forth Worth.
Alongside him on the front row of the grid is Helio Castroneves who is second on series points behind Dixon.
It’s New Zealander Dixon’s fourth pole starting position of the season.
His time, set over four laps, was only 0.0462 of a second faster than Castroneves’.
"I think it's a combination of getting a confidence level on the 1.5s (1.5-mile ovals) and I'm figuring them out," said Dixon.
"My engineer (Eric Bretzman) and I are finally figuring out what we need in qualifying and in the races at these places. The race craft for me has definitely come a long way the last few years.
"I think (the race) is going to be straight-out speed, especially when it comes down to the final 40 or 50 laps.
“You need to be fast. Last year, it seemed like (Sam) Hornish (Junior) just pulled away from the field."
