Kia New Zealand is backing its confidence in its future by establishing a new, bigger, headquarters in Manukau City
Kia, which has been operating out of a warehouse/office unit in Vestey Drive, Penrose, moves into its new HQ in Highbrook, southeast Auckland, in April.
The new building is more than three times bigger and will house all Kia’s operations on one site.
Kia NZ general manager, Todd McDonald, says it will also house a retail new-car showroom that will be a flagship for the Kia dealer network.
“We’ve been looking to re-establish our sales presence on the eastern flank of Auckland for a while,” he says. “But there haven’t been any opportunities with dealerships in the area, so we decided to open our own showroom.”
McDonald says Kia won’t retail cars directly. An existing Kia dealer will staff and run the head office showroom.
He says opening the new HQ will allow Kia to “have everything in place once the market starts to pick up; 2009 will be our busiest year in New Zealand, with several new models to be launched, including the all-new Soul city car.
“With our larger building, we’ll have new sales and support systems in place to help us make the most of the opportunities provided by the new models.”
