Video: BMW's new 6 Series Coupe is designed to be the ultimate "dream car"
The third generation BMW 6 Series Coupe is a 2+2 seater that will offer two engine variants when it goes on sale.
The 640i features a 3.0-litre inline six that develops 315hp (235kW) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.
When paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the car reportedly accelerates from 0-100kmh in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmh. Average fuel consumption is 7.7L/100km and CO2 emissions are 179g/km.
The 650i has a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 with 402hp (300kW) and 600Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the coupe to run from 0-100kmh in 4.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250kmh. Average fuel econmy is 10.4L/100km and CO2 emissions of 243g/km.
The new 6 Series is 75mm longer than its predecessor and 39mm wider, offering more comfort for passengers.
Other highlights include a "shark nose" front-end with bi-xenon headlights and a forward-slanting grille, frameless windows, chrome accents, and a C-pillar with the Hofmeister kink. In the rear there's a dual exhaust system, LED taillights, and a trunk lid with an integrated spoiler.
Inside you'll find leather seats, high-gloss black trim (brushed aluminum and wood trim are also available), a 7-inch iDrive display and a boot that can hold up to 460 litres. On the options list, customers can order heated / ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, and GPS navigation with a 10.2-inch display.
The car also offers a head-up display, a rear-view camera, night vision assist (with pedestrian recognition), parking assist, and a lane departure / lane change warning system.
