Aston Martin has unveiled the stunning new V12 Zagato endurance racer concept at the Villa D’Este Concours
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4GT Zagato, Aston Martin has introduced a modern interpretation of the famous Aston Martin and Zagato collaboration.
Work began in 2010 with sketches incorporating the design DNA of Aston Martin and Italian design house Zagato.
"The V12 Zagato is an elegant yet brutal design which reflects the great balance between race performance and pure Aston Martin style. The original DB4GT Zagato was a true icon, powerful and graceful; the new design is a true representation of the spirit of DB4GT Zagato. The muscular organic forms define the thoroughbred nature of the car’s racing credentials," said Director of Design, Marek Reichman.
The V12 Zagato is a two-door, two-seat coupe with a handcrafted aluminum body, a bonded aluminum structure and a bespoke steel roll cage. Distinct design features include the double-bubble roof.
Under the bonnet is a mid-front mounted 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510hp (380kW) and 570Nm (420 lb ft) of torque coupled to a rear-mounted six-speed automated manual gearbox that drives the rear axle.
The V12 Zagato will make its racing debut at the four-hour VLN race at Nürburgring on May 28 and also make an appearance at the Nürburgring 24 hour endurance race on June 25 and 26.
