Art Car show supports kids' charity

Four of BMW’s Art Cars, decorated by some of the major artists of the 20th Century, are on display at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

The cars on show in Auckland were painted by Australian, Ken Done, and Americans Andy Warhol (below left), Frank Stella and Roy Lichtenstein.

The exhibition opened yesterday, July 18, and runs until Friday, August 10, and admission is free.

Auckland BMW dealer, Team McMillan BMW is hosting an event this evening, July 19, to support the South Auckland Health Foundation’s fundraising for the Kidz First Children’s Hospital at Middlemore.

The evening will combine a fashion show, featuring four of New Zealand’s top designers – Kevin Berkahn, Liz Mitchell, Annah Stretton and John Zimmermann – and will showcase couture inspired by the BMW Art Cars.

Students from Unitech’s Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts will also perform at the event, turning themselves into works of art with the help of leading body painters.
