Luke Youlden and the Powerbuilt Tools / Bed Rumours Handcrafted Beds Ford Mustang head to Pukekohe Park Raceway this weekend to compete in Round 3 of the Schaeffer Oil N.Z. Super Sedan Series
Youlden currently leads the series after winning four of the six races held at the opening two rounds. Youlden has 125 points, 19 ahead of Steve Cox and Grant Brennan who are second equal in the point standings. A good field of these spectacular cars is expected at Pukekohe.
The Australian driver, who is racing in both the Super Sedan Series and the NZV8s Championship for the Christchurch based Powerbuilt Racing Team this summer, is looking forward to unleashing the power of the Mustang at New Zealand's fastest circuit. "I'm looking forward to the grunt of the Mustang and racing at the track for the last time in it's current form," say's the Melbourne ace. Changes to one section of the 2.841 kilometre track will alter the layout prior to Youlden's next outing at the South Auckland venue.
Youlden is keenly anticipating the weekend. "I love Pukekohe. It will be awesome in the Mustang." The alterations planned at the circuit will change the nature of the very fast corner over the hill coming onto the front straight and the Melbourne driver says, "it will be very exciting through the last turn in the Mustang and the last chance to attack that corner before the circuit changes. I'm fortunate to get a run here in the car before the circuit is changed. I just hope it is dry," he laughs. At least one race at each of the previous rounds has been plagued by rain although Youlden has still secured victory in those events.
Luke last raced at Pukekohe early in November when he drove the Powerbuilt Falcon at the opening round of the NZV8s Championship on the circuit. On that occasion he accumulated two 3rd placings before a pit stop cost him a top placing in the final race.
