Production racing champion Dale Williams is hoping to impress during a test with Tracer Motorsport at Pukekohe in September as he chases a drive in the NZ V8 Championship.
The former Pro 7 champion and TRS front-runner says he understands that two other prospective drivers will also get their turns behind the wheel of the Tracer Ford Falcon at the test which may decide who will drive the second Tracer car, alongside Paul Radisich.
Along with several other drivers, Williams is chasing the sponsorship needed to race in New Zealand’s premier Touring Car category this summer.
He retains sponsorship from Rayglass, but that still leaves a considerable shortfall to make up to run a car for a front-running NZ V8 team.
Before last season, Williams impressed in test sessions with International Motorsport driving the Angus Fogg Falcon, but he couldn’t source the money required and settled for a PRC drive instead.
If he doesn’t obtain the sponsorship required to race NZ V8s, it’s possible that he’ll defend the Production Racing title in a Ralliart-run Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.
