Porsche series fastman Jody Vincent wins first of the non-championship GT3 races at the Taupo A1GP meeting.
One of New Zealand Porsche racing’s hardest chargers, Jody Vincent, took a solid victory in the first 911 GT3 race of the A1GP meeting at Taupo this afternoon.
He grabbed the lead with a bold move on early leader Jono Lester at the end of the main straight. Lester’s 911 was unstable under brakes and deteriorated as the race progressed.
Mark Russ got past him into second place and former motorcycle ace, Aaron Slight having his first car race for six years, closed in on Lester, getting within striking distance on the final lap.
Seeing Lester’s car unstable the distance of the long back straight, Slight made a lunge into the final corner, but spun. He recovered to finish fourth behind Lester.
