Italian Jarno Trulli will continue to drive for Toyota in Formula 1 for the next three years.
He joined the Japanese team towards the end of 2004, after he and Renault parted company.
"I am 100 percent sure of Toyota's potential and of its chances of challenging for the Formula 1 World Championship," Trulli said after signing to drive for the squad till 2009.
Toyota improved dramatically last season and finished the year fourth in the constructors' standings. There was great anticipation for this season but the team has struggled. Things have improved recently, with Trulli finishing fourth in America and seventh in Germany, and teammate Ralf Schumacher fourth in France.
"When you are developing a team and car and working towards the ultimate aim of winning, it is always helpful to have continuity among your drivers," says team principal Tsutomu Tomita.
"Jarno has played a key role in improving our performance during the two years...and we are delighted to continue the relationship."
