Craig Baird scored a hat trick of wins at Manfeild last weekend to extend his Battery Town Porsche GT3 Challenge Cup points lead to almost 100 over Australian David Reynolds
Though his Triple X teammate Reynolds qualified on pole, Queensland-based Kiwi Baird had the measure in the races.
He won Saturday’s wet race and Sunday morning’s dry one, both times from Reynolds, and splashed through heavy rain to win the reverse grid final.
Reynolds had quickly worked his way into the race three lead from Baird and Ant Pedersen, but Baird was ahead when officials threw the red flag and stopped the race for safety reasons.
Most cars were still on slick dry weather tyres, though a few had ducked into the pits when rain started to pelt down just before the race start.
They fitted treaded wet weather tyres and gambled on being able to catch and pass their slick-shod rivals despite being forced to start the race from pitlane.
The declared race gave Baird his third win for the weekend from Reynolds, Pedersen, Rodney Forbes, Daniel Gaunt and Courtney Letica.
