Team Kiwi Racing is the latest team to chase Kiwi-born Steven Richards. Paddock rumours suggest Ford New Zealand is trying to combat Greg Murphy’s popularity and a big-name driver is part of its plan. It is widely believed that the team will swap to a Ford Performance Racing Falcon next season, run forom the factory Ford outfit’s Melbourne workshop. TKR boss David John said last week that talks have begun with Ford NZ.
FPR Sporting Director Tim Edwrads was coy when confronted at Queensland Raceway but did reveal that the team has been approached about selling on of its cars.
“A lot of people are talking to us because it’s a fast car,” Edwards said.
FPR has begun work on a new Falcon, its fourth current specification example.
TKR incumbent Paul Radisich remains noncommittal about his plans, refusing to comment on his intentions. There has been speculation he has options in Europe.
Fabian Coulthard has ruled himself out if there is a switch to the blue oval, as he is on a multiple year contract with Paul Morris motorsport which has sub-contracted him to TKR this season.
