Team Kiwi Racing has moved its headquarters to Hamilton in preparation for next year’s Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar race meeting.
Team Kiwi boss David John says the move is in line with TKR’s sponsorship from Hamilton City and opportunities with the Hamilton-based Waikato Institute of Technology (WINTEC).
John says TKR is talking with WINTEC about the development of a high level further education diploma course in automotive engineering.
“We’ve also noted an eagerness from the Waikato region to have a V8 Supercar team that is not only the only Kiwi-based team in the V8 Supercar Championship but a team they can proudly support and call their own.”
TKR was previously based near Auckland airport.
John says Team Kiwi will have an open day at the new Hamilton workshop later this month.
TKR’s new driver, 18-year-old New Zealander Shane Van Gisbergen, makes his Australian V8 Supercar debut in this weekend’s round at Oran Park, Sydney.
