Tiger Woods’ caddy will race a speedway saloon in Australia this weekend.
March 6, 2007. Steve Williams, the speedway racing caddy for golfing superstar Tiger Woods and the 2006 New Zealand Super Saloon Car champion, is taking his speedway programme offshore this weekend.
Williams will race at the Perth Motorplex in the Dirt Late Model division in a support series to West Australia’s major King of Wings Sprint Car title this weekend.
Williams will compete in Perth courtesy of a deal put together by leading Late Model racer Craig Vosbergen of Racin Tyres & Accessories and Brian (Bear) Chalmers of BCM Motorsports Marketing. He’ll drive the 2006 Rocket Chassis house car owned by Racin Tyres & Accessories.
Two classes of speedway saloons are raced in Australia with the USA-style Late Models being closer to New Zealand’s Super Saloons. They’re left-hand drive while the Australian Super Sedans are a right-hand drive class.
Williams’ car will be numbered #21NZ and carry his usual Valvoline and Caddyshack Racing livery.
