Stanaway strikes double at Pukekohe

Formula Fords provide edge of seat action at Pukekohe.

Richie Stanaway has taken two hard-won victories in MTA Formula Ford races at Pukekohe today.

In an action-packed Ron Frost Memorial 15-lapper this afternoon, Stanaway grabbed the lead for good on the final lap, re-passing Stefan Webling at the hairpin.

Webling, who won Saturday’s first race, had slipped into the lead on lap 13 when early race leader Mitchell Evans slid off the track trying to pass Stanaway.

Evans regained the track and finished fifth. His brother Simon and Martin Short finished fourth and fifth.

Earlier in the day, Stanaway won a nail-biter, by 0.03 seconds from Webling, with short third. Mitchell Evans slid off the track and after contact with another car and didn’t finish.
