Former world rally champion, Petter Solberg, out of a job after Subaru withdrew from the WRC at the end of 2008, says he’ll be starting in the Rally of Norway
Solberg will drive a 2006 Citroen Xsara WRC on his home event but isn’t saying where he found the car or which team will run it.
In multiple world champion Sebastien Loeb’s hands the Xsara (Loeb is pictured in the 2006 Monte Carlo Rally) was a rally winner, though it has been superseded by the C4 WRC.
Solberg says he’ll announce more details of the deal before the Rally of Norway. At this stage it’s unclear whether the Norwegian outing is a one-off or part of a full WRC programme.
