Silver Fern Rally event updated

Preparations for the October Silver Fern Rally step up a gear with a number of aspects in the final stages.

The Itinerary and Special Stage descriptions have been re-prepared as provisional information. This information is correct as at the 12/13th of August but is subject to final change. Due to the extreme snowstorm damage etc that occurred through the central part of the South Island approximately 20% of the Route has been replaced in the last few weeks, making this a continual work in progress document.

As stated in the event regulations full service route / crew information will be released no later than Sept 15th.

Check it out on the website:-

The Park Ferme's while in Blenheim will be at the Blenheim School where Security will be in place overnight.

The Rally Start will take place on High Street Picton overlooking the picturesque Picton Harbour at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, with the Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman flagging away the cars.

Rally HQ (Scenic Circle Hotels Blenheim Country Hotel) will be run by Steve Foster, while Chris Parker's excellent results service along with our own incidents and news reports will be available regularly on the website.

The welcome event, the drivers and teams briefings, and the prize-giving function for the Finish will all be held in Stadium 2000 in Blenheim with room for 800 people. More details on these functions will be released soon.

The event is pleased to be supporting the children's charity Variety and on the rest day in Dunedin and there will be a charity dinner on the Wednesday evening which will now most likely be at Carisbrook. Details and prices along with booking information will be sent out soon in an information flyer, but be assured there are a couple of high profile Kiwi speakers being arranged. The dinner will be limited to 200 people and will be sold on a first come first served basis. This is one part of the week, not to be missed.

The Rally organisers have offered to participating Car Clubs the opportunity to sell sponsorship for individual Special Stages, and in turn earn themselves some money. A percentage of the money raised will be used by the organisers, but the majority will be returned to the Clubs. If you are a sponsor who wants to get his name on a Special Stage talk to your local Car Club.
