Shane aims to nail chassis set-up

V8 Supercar hot property, Shave van Gisbergen, says getting the chassis set-up right in the Stone Brothers Racing Ford Falcon will be the major challenge in this weekend’s Bahrain round of the Australian series

The Middle Eastern round is the series’ second away round of the year, after New Zealand’s Hamilton street race.

The young Manukau City driver’s first taste of the Bahrain track came in last year’s series, and he says he likes the circuit.

“It seemed to suit both the SBR-prepared car and my driving style. We struggled in qualifying which hurt us for the rest of the weekend but the track w as definitely a lot of fun,” says van Gisbergen.

“It’s quite tight and twisty in the first section and then it opens up to some very wide and fast areas. You need a car that is good in both the slow and high speed corners so it’s a real challenge to get the set up right.”

SBR is currently fifth in the team championship standings, with James Courtney in eighth and van Gisbergen 15th in the drivers’ championship.
