NZ V8s Ford Falcon racer Simon Richards will have a new engine for this weekend’s second round of the 2008/2009 BNT championship at Pukekohe
The Hamiltonian expects that to give him added pace on the ultra-fast track south of Auckland.
Richards says he and the Ballistic Motorsport were comfortable about the way he and the car went in round one at Taupo where he finished the weekend 14th overall.
He says that could have been higher but he lost ground in race two when he slid off the track on oil dropped by another car.
The incident knocked Richards out of a top 10 position, and he eventually finished 20th.
“We’ll have a new engine for Pukekohe, which we hope will be an improvement…but the truth is we’ll just have to wait and see.”
That will become clear when Richards takes the Falcon on to the track in Friday’s official timed practice sessions.
"We also have a little bit more development on the car to do which we couldn't get done before Taupo, so we’re looking to (lift) our game a bit more when we hit Pukekohe.
“Taupo was a good start to the season but we can do better. We’re all looking forward to Pukekohe, and as always we’ll be trying to get into that top 10.”
