Following double victory at the Indonesian round of the 2006 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, Johnny Reid has been confirmed as the driver for the inaugural New Zealand round.
Confirming an earlier statement, A1 Team.NZL Principal Colin Giltrap said 23 year-old Reid would take the driving position as reward for winning at Indonesia.
Not only was the Indonesian sprint race the first win for the team, but Reid followed it up with a second victory in the longer duration feature event.
Also announced, Wade Cunningham will be the rookie driver for the weekend practise session. Having been named to test in China, the 2003 FIA World Karting Champion never turned a wheel due to the sessions being suspended for safety reasons.
